The process      We understand that you’ve probably never hired a wedding photographer before in your life.  And that makes the whole process  difficult and a little scary – after all, this is a lot of money to spend.  So a few things to keep in  mind:  Unlike the rest of your wedding vendors, the photographer is probably the person with whom you will spend the largest amount of your time on your wedding day.  The photographer is also the only one who you will continue to deal with long after the wedding is over, when you order prints, albums, and reprints.  With that in mind, we’d like to make this whole process a little easier by explaining – well – the process.

The selection  The first step in the process is to select the photographer.  You will probably talk to several photographers.  You should view samples,  in person,  talk to the photographers who will photograph your wedding to get a feel for who they are.  Once you have selected the photographer you wish to hire, you will sign a contract and put down a retainer to hold your wedding day.  We certainly would be pleased if we were that photographer.

The waiting         Now's a great time to do your engagement session or your pre-bridal session.  Then comes the waiting.  There’s not a whole lot you’ll talk to us about right now.  Be thinking about people and things you’d like to have photographs of and keep a list to share with us in your final meeting.  If you’re so inclined, tear out photographs from magazines or bookmark web sites for us to look at when we meet again.  But don’t be complete strangers – we’d like to hear from you periodically to know how the planning is going and if we can do anything to help.

The month before        Approximately a month before the wedding, we’ll want to meet with you to finalize details – either in person or over the phone.  We will provide you with a detailed questionnaire to fill out that will give us all the information we need to photograph your wedding.  We’ll go over the questionnaire with you to nail down the exact times and locations, and go over lists of requested photos and make sure that we know who’s who.  This is also the time you’ll pay your 2/3 of the photography fee.

The day before       This is our preparation time.  If we are traveling from out of town to photograph your wedding, this is the day we will arrive.  We will touch base with a phone call to make sure that nothing has changed since our last meeting.  We will scout out the area of the wedding and reception.  If we are photographing your rehearsal, we’ll see you there.  And mostly, we’ll get a good night’s sleep in order to be at our best and full of energy tomorrow.

The wedding day    Here it is — the big day itself.  We will begin by arriving at each location about 1 hour before, just to have one more chance to scout the area.  We’ll check with you periodically throughout the day to make sure we’re getting the images you want us to get and to quickly organize groupings and posed portraits for posterity.  But mostly we’ll be unobtrusive and quite – doing the job that you hired us to do.

The proofs       This is the hardest part because you remember your day and you know that we have some wonderful images to show you.  It will only take us one week to compile all the film, and digital files  and either create your digital presentation or create your proof books, depending on the option you selected.  We will provide you with all of the information you need to order prints and create the album of your dreams.  This is when the final payment for your photography fee is due.

The albums & prints     We will be happy to help you choose prints for display and gifts or to help you design an album layout.  Using a proprietary computer program, we can create a mock up of your album and print it out or copy it to a disk for you to view.  In this way we can help you to visualize the perfect layout for your album, rather than having to make you guess at what the final album might look like.

Placing your order     Once you’ve placed your orders, you’ll have to wait again.  It takes about 2 weeks for a custom print order to be completed, and about 1 month or so for an album.   Trust us – the results are worth the wait.

The End     It’s over.  You’ve completed your photographic endeavors.  We will always be here to print more photographs, create other albums, and take more pictures.  But the hard part is over and you can rest and enjoy the beautiful albums and prints from your wedding.
